The development of technology components for FttR, WLAN and LAN takes place in WP3. The goal is to prepare the components for heterogeneous building networking in 5G. In ge- neral, there are currently no solutions and products for heterogeneous building networking as envisaged in this project widely available in the global markets.
- Hardware and software components for the demonstrators for the wireless connection of end users: In the 5G Compass, the end users are connected wirelessly via coordinated WLAN or LiFi access points. Increasing demands for several Gbits/s per end device can be met with novel laser arrays for LiFi that enable higher bandwidth and spatially selective transmission. Among other things, acentrally coordinated optimisation of the system parameters by machine learning will be aimed at.
- Hardware and software components for the demonstrators for the wired connection of the access points in the building: In WP3, key components of a 50 Gbit/s fibre optic connection are to be researched and developed with a view to complexity, costs and feasibility. Further, the high synchronisation requirements for coordinated transmission at access points through PONs will be investigated, methods for this developed and tested. Another investigation targets potential of PLC technology for coordinated transmission at access points will be investigated and methods for increasing performance will be developed.
